As the threat of hacking is growing continuously world wide web, the search engine giant Google now wants to kill the password system and to build up more secured system to stop hacking. They are now planning to create a secure hardware device which can be used to login from a computer or any online account without any help of password.
Designed in the shape of rings which can be worn on fingers, these hardware devices will aid in logging in to a computer or online account.
The search engine first revealed its plans to put an end to passwords in an academic paper published online in January. The effort focused on having people plug a small USB key that provides their credentials into a computer. The possibility of using special jewellery in a similar manner was mentioned in that paper.
According to Google’s principal engineer, who specialises in security, Mayank Upadhyay at the RSA security conference in San Francisco last week, “Using personal hardware to log in would remove the dangers of people reusing passwords or writing them down.”
“Everyone is familiar with an ATM. What if you could use the same experience with a computer?” Upadhyay said, adding that Google’s trial was focused on a slim USB key that performs a cryptographic transaction with an online service to prove the key’s validity when it’s plugged into a computer.
The key also has a contactless chip inside so that it can be used to log in via mobile devices. Tokens like the ones Google is testing do not contain a static password that could be copied. The cryptographic key unique to the device is stored inside and is never transmitted. When the key is plugged in, it proves its validity by correctly responding to a mathematical challenge posed by the online service it is being used to log into, in a way that doesn’t produce any information that could be used to log in again.
Google is already talking with other companies to lay the groundwork for using the technology to access different services and websites. “It’s extremely early stages, and we’re trying to get more partners,” said Upadhyay.
To survive in today’s competitive market it is essential for every business to own a well designed and developed website. Websites are necessary for any business that is looking for online sales and business. But there is a very big competition in building a good and attractive website. There are various ways to build a website like static HTML, flash websites and so on. There are many scripting languages existing in the market for quicker and safer web site development. PHP web development is one among them.
But before knowing its advantage we have to know first, what is PHP? Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP) is a scripting language designed for web development and to develop dynamic web pages. Most of the web developers today use PHP coding and this language has been in great demand in the software industry due to its special features. PHP has many versions like PHP 1, PHP 2, PHP 3, PHP 4 and PHP 5 among others. Every version of PHP comes with all new and exciting features. At present, PHP web development does not have native support for Unicode or multibyte strings because it is under development for a future version of PHP. This Unicode support will allow strings as well as class, method, and function names to contain non-ASCII characters.
So if you want to hire web designer to create a website then you should prefer php designing. Web Developers prefer to pick PHP over various other substitutes available. Following are the reasons that discern it from rest as follows: -
- It generates expressive result and provides great experience for its users.
- It can be used in many programming as Array, Directory, Simple XML functions, FTP, HTTP and many others.
- It assists in creating dynamic web pages content and images.
- PHP provide complete source of coding for its users to construct and customize as per their needs.
- PHP 4 or PHP parser accumulate inputs to fabricate byte code for processing by the Zend Engine, rendering a comprehensive improved performance.
- It also supports multiple databases like MS Access, SQL Server, My SQL and Oracle.
- Servers with PHP are used by over 20 million internet domains for web hosting services, therefore it emerged as most popular Apache HTTP Server Module.
- Today, PHP can be installed with most operating systems.
- PHP provides more interactive results.
Judging by the present trends PHP web development is the preferred choice among other web development languages available. There are more than 20 million domains that have used PHP language to develop the website. Some of the leading websites such as Facebook and Wikipedia were created using the PHP language. Website developers find PHP web development to their liking due to a number of factors. But it is important to give proper outputs when you are into PHP web development. Thus, we are sharing some tips to make you a better PHP web developer.
- Core Functions and Classes: When you start a project, first of all read through the PHP manual to check whether or not the function you intend to build is already present. If a function or class is common there are high chances that it will exist. There is no need to write new functions for elementary tasks such as removing white spaces before or after a string. Similarly if you are into PHP web development you need not build XML parser for RSS feeds as it already exists.
- Sanitizing Data: If you want to avoid the issue of SQL injections than it is better to sanitize the data you have at hand. As a PHP developer you should have complete idea of how the application can work. Also gain an idea of what SQL injections are. PHP web development is so popular because of the great tools to avoid SQL injections.
- Over Commenting on Codes: It is very important to create proper documentation for codes. But you should not comment on every single line within these codes. Apply comments only on complex aspects of source codes. If your code is well coded then it would be self explanatory.
- Error Reporting: When you are into PHP coding make sure that the error reporting and display errors features are enabled. These features help you identify the run-time errors. It will also help you recognize the source of errors rather than manually looking for them.
If you want to be a prominent PHP web development name then there is no end to learning. You should stay updated at all times.

Online sales is a significant revenue earner for businesses. When you have a lot of products to sell you can compete with even best physical stores. It is no wonder then that e-commerce stores are experiencing such an overwhelming popularity. As a web designer you have to be ready to mete out perfect designs that increase the business of your client’s e-commerce store. There are some common mistakes that are made while designing an e-commerce store. The remedies to these are mentioned below:
Lack of Product Information
When people shop in a physical store they pick up and check the products using all their sensations, but this is not available at the e-commerce stores. So, you have to suffice for this by providing as much information as possible. The customers should be able to view the product from every angle and read all information about it. There should be arrangements to accommodate chat windows, where the customers may shoot questions to sales persons.
Unavailability of Contact Information
Customers want to make sure that they are dealing with a real company. After all they will be divulging the credit card information to the e-commerce store. Try to put the contact information in prominent places such as the header, top of the sidebar or may be in the footer.
Complex Checkout Process
Checkout process should be as simple as possible. It should be as simple as providing the credit card information and the order is complete. If you put a lot of steps between placing the order and payment then customers get irritated. So try to make a single page for the entire checkout process. If you need to put in other pages make sure there is little information to be put in.
Absence of a Proper Site Search Engine
e-Commerce stores are known for their large stocks. So, you have to put in a search engine that aids the customers in their product search. You should choose an e-commerce software that has a worthwhile search engine. Best search engines provide an option to the customers to filter search results.
Try to make sure you use these remedies for the next e-commerce web design project that you come across.
Facebook is a modern day crowd puller, albeit online. No other website witnesses so large traffic as Facebook. No wonder marketers are interested in being seen on this social networking platform. Thus, came up the concept of Facebook ads. You can purchase Facebook ad placements on basis of auction. These ads are charged on the value of impressions or clicks. There are plenty of ad formats for the marketers to choose from. Broadly there are two types of Facebook ads – Sponsored and stories or Ads.
Voice of Business
For the Ads which are also known as Voice of Business the advertiser will have full say about the creative elements. You can choose the title of ad, text and images that go along. Facebook decides where the ads can appear based on their origins. Based on this classification there are four formats of Facebook ads.
- Standard Ads: This is a variety of ad that you will witness on the right hand side of the site. These are dedicated ad placements. Your brand appears on the right hand side of Facebook homepage, pages, events, apps, user profiles and next to photos in your album. They are also eligible to show alongside the news feed.
- Page Post Ads: These are basically page posts that increase the reach of brands. They can be seen in all Facebook placements. You can view them on mobile devices as well as desktop.
- Mobile Install Ads: These ads are only shown in the news feeds while accessing Facebook through mobile phones. If one clicks on the ads, they will be directed to Google Play or Apple App Store depending on the mobile operating system being used.
- Sponsored Results: Shown in sponsored search results. These ads can be viewed in the type ahead on top of Facebook interface. The lengthy of text for these ads are 70 characters. The image for this ad will be automatically taken from the Facebook brand entity.
Sponsored Stories
Sponsored Results are also known as Voice of Friend. These ads cannot be created by any brand. They are based on organic page content displayed in Facebook. The content is created by the users rather than advertisers.
I hope by now you have gained an in-depth understanding of different Facebook ad formats.
Google tweeted about the newest update to their Panda algorithm, linking to one of their older blog posts titled – ‘Finding more high-quality sites in search’. By means of their announcement, Google asks its users to refresh their ideas on Google’s guidelines and spot their intent. About 1.1% of English queries are affected in the United States only, while 0.4% of the queries are affected worldwide.
Panda 21 is slightly more noticeable for searchers than other Panda updates released this year with the exception of Panda 20. The iteration is the 12th rolled out by Google in 2012. For the most part, the company has unveiled one per month, but two came in late April. With the Penguin algorithm debuting that month as well.
One important to have in mind is that most of the web masters and site owners have not yet recovered from the impact set by Panda 20 (a massive one among the other 4 updates) that rolled out last September. It had a very bad demise percentage of 2.4% of English search queries.
As always, it’s important for marketers to focus on developing high-quality website content to avoid issues related to Panda or any other Google search algorithm. Upon announcing Panda 21, Google shared a link to its blog post on “Finding more high-quality sites in search” released during the initial Panda rollout. In the post, the company explains it constantly tunes its algorithms to distinguish between “good and bad” content on the web. As SEO continues to evolve and algorithms mature, focusing on delivering relevant information to users is the most effective way to avoid search losses.
Matt Cutts, Google’s distinguished engineer, said earlier this year that Panda updates would be less impactful moving forward, as the company focuses on other important elements of search. While Panda 20 and Panda 21 have both impacted more results than other updates, their effect has still been fairly minimal.
It’s been speculated by Danny Sullivan that the update came into effect on 5th of this month, but as usual Google had forgotten to inform the world about this. It was only on 6th, a fellow Googler had micro blogged about this Panda #21 release via Twitter, and the news got public. Google proved its transparency one more time!
Generally, people do not put stress on their website’s internal linking structure, as they think it is not as important as the external linking structure is. As a result, people who used to think like that, and used to inter link their web pages without proper planning are the most affected ones by the recent Penguin update from Google. By now, some of you who are new to SEO or Search Engine Optimization might have started to think what is internal linking, and what kind of planning is required to get the most out of Google and rank higher in search results. But let us make it clear to you; the term ‘internal linking’ refers to the links pointing to other pages on the same website.
3 Ways to Improve the Internal Linking on Your Website
Here are three exercises you should go through to ensure you are effectively using the authority of your internal pages.
1) Sketch out a map of your website. Make a list of each page in your main navigation and what links are on each of those major pages. This will help you understand the links that you already have between each section of your site, and how you’ve linked it together in the past. Sometimes, laying out your whole website visually is the only way to understand what you’ve overlooked and what’s working. You might just uncover that the reason some of your best pages are ranking well is because you subconsciously did a great job building your own links into them from your other content.

2) Next, look at the topics that you frequently write about. If you’re writing regularly about something, you should have another dedicated page on your website about that topic — like a landing page with an offer, for example. Each of those posts should be linking to that authoritative page on the subject, and it should be optimized for conversions. If your landing page has a prominent call-to-action, your effective use of internal linking will help drive more new leads through the offer.
Also consider where that page lies in your navigation, and if it’s worth linking to from your homepage or products page. Depending on your business, you might even find that linking to a specific blog post or page from your website’s main navigation might suit you well. For example, if your company often needs to explain your business to people who discover you, that would make a good blog post that deserves major promotion across your site.
3) Think about every other page that could link to your ranking page. If it is a page related to a topic you frequently blog about, make sure each of your new blog posts about that topic reference that page and link into it. You can see this in how HubSpot ranks for the term ‘how to use facebook for business.’

There’s never any shortage of excitement and anticipation surrounding the major updates to Ubuntu Linux that arrive twice each year, and Thursday’s brand-new release is no exception.
This time, however, the timing is particularly fortuitous.
As the PC-using world braces itself not just for the release of Windows 8 next week but also the end of life of Windows XP in 2014, the new Ubuntu 12.10 “Quantal Quetzal” offers a raft of widely anticipated new features and a fresh alternative to what Canonical calls “the pain of Windows 8.”
Along with Juju support and the expansion of its metal-as-a-service bare metal provisioning tool to work for Calxeda servers, 12.10 also brings support for the latest ‘Folsom’ release of the open-source cloud platform OpenStack.
“Because OpenStack uses Ubuntu as a reference architecture, we can get features developed in OpenStack,” Steve George, Canonical’s vice president of communications and products, said.
As a result, Ubuntu 12.10 servers can be linked together to form an OpenStack-based infrastructure cloud.
The Folsom release brings with it Quantum networking, which “allows you to set up more complicated network topologies if deploying in an OpenStack environment”, George said.
Much of Quantum’s code has been contributed by software-defined networking company Nicira, which was acquired by VMware for $1.3bn in July.
GRUB 2 boot loader:
Microsoft’s adoption of the UEFI secure boot feature makes it more difficult for Ubuntu and other operating systems to dual boot with Windows 8. For Ubuntu 12.10 Canonical has chosen to resolve this problem by using the Microsoft-generated keys with a signed version of GRUB 2.
Previously, choices to boot Ubuntu from earlier kernel versions were shown on the first and only GRUB page, and this tended to become an ever-lengthening list as kernel updates were added. Now these alternate boots are assigned to a secondary page accessed through the ‘Advanced options for Ubuntu’ GRUB menu choice.
The Ubuntu Greeter Login prompt:
The Greeter login prompt now includes an option for Remote Login to an RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) server. The Remote Login allows users who have set up an Ubuntu Remote Login Account to access any remote machine added to that account. Once added and following a remote login, the available machines appear as entries in the login prompt.
The Nautilus file manager:
The latest version of the GNOME-developed Nautilus file manager, version 3.6, no longer provides the features felt to be essential to Ubuntu. So — as already reported in our Beta 1 preview — Ubuntu 12.10 sticks with Nautilus 3.4.
The 3.5 Linux kernel:
The Linux kernel included with Ubuntu 12.10 is updated to a customised version based on the 3.5.3 upstream version which, as previously reported, features several changes that should result in improved graphics performance — including improved support for DisplayLink monitors and the hybrid graphics technologies found in notebooks. It also moves to X.org’s X Server 1.13.
Whenever we go through any computer, may be desktop or laptop we will find a list of pre-installed fonts on the machine. But if you are a web designer you must know that the default fonts are not always sufficient. But you can not experience too much and use a unique and creative font. If you use a new font and the visitor does not has it on his or her machine then there will be a different render of the font which may look unattractive on the display of the visitor. You always keep in mind that you should choose the font which will look good on the maximum number of display. That’s why it is always important to use the web safe font while designing a web page. It is the only way to be sure that the font will be rendered properly and all the efforts will not go into vain. Another important point to keep in mind is that still there are many users who do not have advance computer. That’s why a modern font can damage the amount of traffic and will increase bounce rate of the website.
Before applying the web safe font, you must know what are the fonts which are considered as web safe in the web designing industry. According to the popular belief there are sixteen fonts which we can call web safe. And they are; Impact, Palatino Linotype, Tahoma, Century Gothic, Lucida Sans Unicode, Arial Black, Times New Roman, Arial Narrow, Verdana, Copperplate Gothic Light, Lucida Console, Gill Sans, Trebuchet MS, Courier New, Arial and Georgia.
The purpose of every webpage is to satisfy their visitor by providing required information. If the content is not readable at all, then there will be no pleasure of reading from the part of the visitor. If a visitor comes to your site and fluently reads all the information then the purpose of website will be fulfil then. The usage of web safe font is the safest way to have a complete website design purpose. Web safe font will make the encounter with your site silky smooth and easy and drive large number of dedicated traffic as well as profit.
